“A scheme that delivers surplus supermarket food to the homeless in Bristol is being launched tonight. The FareShare South West project delivers food to 50 homeless shelters, drug rehabilitation centres and youth offender projects. Up to 400 tonnes of food a year will be collected by volunteers and delivered in two refrigerated vans.”

“We’re currently delivering two days a week, but want to extend that to three days by Christmas and five by this time next year. We’ve taken on 10 volunteers so far but ideally I’d like to see 40 people here, six per shift, working Monday to Friday from nine to five. It’s a chance for people who otherwise might not get a break to build their self-esteem.”
